Works wellAug 11, 2009
By Dave We bought this for our son who is just under two and has mild eczema on his hands and legs. We've been dealing with his eczema for quite some time and have tried a lot of other products. We keep coming back to this one for a couple of reasons: 1. It doesn't irritate his skin (no fragrance or essential oils) 2. Has glycerin, petroleum jelly, and mineral oil - the triad of moisturizers all in one 3. Has dimethicone to help protect his skin from abrasion 4. Has colloidal oatmeal to help with the itching
We put it on right after his evening bath (to lock in the moisture) and once or twice a day as needed.
This won't "cure" eczema but it does help keep the skin moisturized and my son definitely scratches less when we use it (in fact when he's itchy he asks for "lotion"). When he flares up we combine this with a basic hydrocortisone (our pediatrician recommended getting hydrocortisone ointments which are generally just petroleum jelly and hydrocortisone). It probably goes without saying that if your baby has eczema it good to talk to your doctor about treatment. Our doctor gave us good advice on how best to use over-the-counter products safely so as to minimize side-effects. He also gave us some things we could do to prevent secondary infections and arranged a blood test to help determine what our son's food triggers were. All combined we're starting to finally get ahead of the eczema.

Recommended by my baby's dermatologist for eczemaApr 29, 2010
By Deborah J. Andreasen My son has severe eczema on his face, just about the worst place for a baby to have eczema. My pediatrician was no help and said there was nothing I could do for my son because the skin on the face is so delicate. After trying every remedy under the sun and seeing no lasting results, I took my baby to a dermatologist...along with the bottles and tubes of ointments and creams I'd been trying. He told me not to use any of them because they all had extracts that could cause an allergic reaction in my son's skin. He recommended Baby Aveeno Soothing Relief Moisture Cream. I had already tried everything else, so I figured what was one more bottle of lotion?
After using this cream and the wash that accompanies it, I am totally hooked. The cream is thick but absorbs into my son's skin quickly. It's not greasy, there is no fragrance, and my son's skin stays moisturized most of the day. It is completely safe to use on his entire body, which is very reassuring. Whenever the skin on his face starts to get red and itchy, I rub on some lotion and within minutes the redness starts to go away. Also, I rub him down with lotion within minutes of him getting out of the bath, and that makes a big difference.
It's been a long process, but we are finally able to keep his eczema under control and this is the only thing that worked. I went to my local drug store and bought their entire stock of this product so that I'll never be without!

Gave my baby a rashMar 08, 2012
By Cherie Put this on my LO in the morning and by the evening she had red spots all over her body. In addition, this product may be fragrance free but contains parabens and alcohol.

Great for eczema!Feb 15, 2011
By Suzy Our infant son had terrible eczema to the point that we had to use steroid cream and the doctors prescribed a nasty immuno-suppressant with scary side effects (which we wouldn't fill). Well, we used this lotion morning and night for a few weeks and his skin slowly started clearing up. I tried Eucerin and even the Aveeno lotion with the light blue cap, but this cream is thick and did a great job keeping his skin moisturized, which kept the rashes at bay. The only problem is that we pretty much have to buy it by the case, but it's worth it not to have an itchy, miserable baby.

The ONLY lotion we've used on our son.May 20, 2010

My son is now 4 1/2. This is the only lotion we have ever used for him. It's so thick and creamy, and not greasy at all. He has a bit of dry skin, but we mostly started with this because I have eczema on my hands and we needed baby products that didn't irritate ME. Not only was the pediatrician glad to hear we were using Aveeno, I don't have to deal with itchy hands! I would recommend this to anyone and everyone with kids, not just babies. It moisturizes without being oily and doesn't have noxious odors to deal with.
