5Great for wavy hair, tooMar 13, 2010
By lbp
My hair only has a slight wave in it and I usually wear it straight, so I wasn't sure how this product would work for me. I am delighted to say that not only did it work very well, I feel like I have a whole new "look" at my fingertips. My husband LOVES it and so do I!

I followed the instructions on the first day and got great results; not as curly as someone with true curly hair, but a nice "lioness" bedhead waves look. The curls were distinct, but soft and natural.

The second day, I refreshed with the botanical spray, and scrunched and got the same results. Same for every day after that and a few days I also put the climate control product in and scrunched some more. I did find that with my hair type, the scrunching worked better than her "rake and shake" method; that really didn't do anything for my hair. I wondered about the product building up, but it didn't seem to. Day after day, just looked great.

I did this for a week (I am not kidding!) and it worked well every day. I put it in a ponytail, leaving some strands out, rolled it away from my face with pins and gathered in the back with a ribbon, tried barrettes... it truly was a new look and as you can probably tell, I had a ball with it. I think that I could have gone longer than a week as the style was still there and looking great (the hair kept getting fuller with more body), but felt it was a little gross to go that long without washing it, so washed it, repeated the process (without the intense conditioner as I had used it all up) and got the same results.

I can only imagine what this product would do for someone with real curls and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has curly hair as well as someone who has a slight wave. Very impressive product! I am actually grateful someone came up with it; I didn't think I could carry this look and am pleased to find that I can!

5Great Products for Wavy HairMar 06, 2010
By Diana F. Von Behren "reneofc"
As I am always looking for new ways to tame my thick wavy mane of hair, when I happened upon Ouidad products in a promotional email sent to me by Sephora, I decided to give them a try.

Seventy-five percent of the battle over controlling wavy/curly hair is a good haircut. I am pleased to say that I use a wonderful stylist in my area that works for an Aveda Salon and knows exactly how to cut my unmanageable tresses. When she styles my hair she uses "Be Curly" products--especially the leave-in hair cream that is meant to enhance the curl (Aveda Be Curly Enhancer, 6.7-Ounce Tube). I have purchased this product and do use it at home with mixed inconsistent results.

To style my hair I use the clip method outlined in both Curly Girl and Curl Talk: Everything You Need to Know to Love and Care for Your Curly, Kinky, Wavy, or Frizzy Hair. The clips add height from the crown and position the curls in a pattern that enhances the natural flow of the curl yet looks like a more sophisticated style rather than just a jumble of hair. When I use "Be Curly" my hair doesn't exactly organize itself in the shape that I want it to be in. For the most part there is always a bigger pouffier side that needs retweaking before I consider myself done.

When I tried Ouidad's Curl Essential Starter Kit, I was uncertain about the shampoo. It definitely cleansed my hair, but it did not have a creamy consistency like the Be Curly counterpart. The Ouidad conditioner is great; I raked it through my hair and let it sit there for about three minutes. I used a wide tooth comb to make sure all the snarls and knots were eliminated. I pat my hair dry--never rub it--that would just produce more knots--and then just comb it into place with my fingers. I rubbed the Climate Control Heat and Humidity Gel on my hands and then onto my hair and added little Aveda Confixor Liquid Gel, 8.5 Ounces) just because I like the fragrance. Once all my clips were in place, I dried with a diffuser. Before it is 100% dry, I remove the clips to check the progress. I dry it a little more without the clips and then replace the clips (not as many) to tweak the hair into shape.

Wow! I have got to say that Ouidad made the styling so easy! My waves/curls look shiny, well formed and have no hint of frizziness. Unbelievably fast!

Now I don't wash my hair everyday--especially when the weather is cold. To eliminate the inevitable bed-head, I spritz on the Botanical Boost, do a little more raking with my fingers and reclip. The shower or hot tub helps steam the curls into a hairstyle; I keep the clips in while I get dressed and do my make-up. Once the clips are removed--all done!

Bottom line? I am extremely satisfied with the Ouidad Curl Essentials Starter kit--so much so that I will definitely order full sizes of each of the components. As an Italian American with thick wavy hair, I can wholeheartedly recommmend it for those with similar hair traits. Highly Recommended.

2didn't work on my wavy hairJun 29, 2010
By Tammy L. Jaynes "Tammy"
I saw the infomercial and was intrigued. I have wavy hair that looks curly when wet. I can coax it to stay curly when dry with some mousses, etc. This product wasn't even as good as some cheap mousses I've purchased at the grocery store. I don't know how it works with true curly hair, but it did almost nothing for my wavy hair. Another reviewer suggested Curls Rock. I ordered some and it works much better for my hair. However, I can't comb through it as well when dry. I highly recommend ordering any kind of infomercial product on Amazon, as you don't have to deal with the pushy salespeople and trying to cancel "club memberships".

1Contains Sodium Hydroxide-BEWAREJul 17, 2010
By Cassandra Thomas
I unfortunately committed to the monthly supply of these products in the larger size. I swore by them at first, because unlike other countless products I tried on my naturally curly locks, nothing worked to keep it unfrizzy.
These products works at first, but after continued use (3 weeks) it stops.
Also everything except the leave-in conditioner contains sodium hydroxide which is used as a cheap thickener and can actually DAMAGE your hair more.
If you are looking for a quick fix and are not concerned about the actual health of your hair-then this product is for you.
If not,
look elsewhere

1Very drying to your hair...Jul 21, 2010
By OhAnnie
Not happy with product. Extremely drying to my curly hair. Resulted in a frizz fest. Had to get a professional conditioning to try and undo the damage. I do not recommend this product.
